Us v. Them

Yeah, we’ve heard it before.

Sports writers don’t really know anything. The only difference between us and you is that we get to talk to the players after the game. You can probably pick more games correctly than we ever could.

Well, prove it. Each week, CT Sports will pick from four of the hottest games in the NFL. Then we’ll get you to pick, and see who comes out on top. Good luck, and by the way, ties go to the home team … and that’s us.

Raj’s Picks

Redskins at Giants
If the Giants couldn’t stop Brian Westbrook from running all over them, they don’t stand a chance against Clinton Portis. Washington

Colts at Titans
Steve McNair and Chris Brown will keep this game close, but in the end they lack the firepower to hang with Indy. Colts

Panthers at Chiefs
Green Bay’s Ahman Green and Brett Favre exposed what is supposed to be a very good Carolina defense, and Priest Holmes and Trent Green will do the same. Chiefs

Vikings at Eagles
Culpepper and Moss will get the better of their counterparts Monday night. Vikings

Marcus’ Picks

Redskins vs. Giants
No contest. Based on last week’s dismal performance by the Giants, coupled with the return of Joe Gibbs, expect the Redskins in a romp. ‘Skins

Colts vs. Titans
If Peyton Manning’s play of late is any indication, this one could get ugly. The Colt’s suffered a heartbreaker last week, losing in the waning seconds of the game when Vanderjagt missed a crucial 42-yard FG. I expect them to look for redemption in Tennessee. Colts

Panthers vs. Chiefs
While I would normally rule this one a toss up, Carolina’s disheartening loss to Green Bay Monday night with WR Steve Smith going down with a broken left fibula, expect KC to capitalize. KC

Vikings vs. Eagles
Perhaps the two best teams in the NFC thus far, this one comes down to home field advantage and TO (If he can find the stadium). Philly, 35-31

Nicholas’s Picks

Redskins vs. Giants
Joe Gibbs in office spending the night at Redskin Park, a Bush in the White House on his way out. Does this sound familiar? Expect the same result: Super Bowl Champions! ‘Skins

Colts vs. Titans
When NFL Co-MVPs face off, there’s bound to be tons of scoring. Something about Tennessee’s defense is missing from last year. Peyton always wins earlier in the season. Colts

Panthers vs. Chiefs
I love an underdog story, but I love it even more when they get clobbered the next year. Delhomme is done(can anyone say Kurt Warner?) Chiefs just too much offense.
Chiefs

Vikings vs. Eagles
Owens and Moss, McNabb and Culpepper. It comes down to one name: Onterrio. Scat back Smith scores two touchdowns and improved Minnesota secondary puts clamps on Eagles’ wings. Vikings

Julian’s Picks

Redskins vs. Giants
Because the way Clinton Portis runs, I’ll take the ‘Skins, and because of the way Eli Manning was hit last week I’ll take an aspirin.

Colts vs. Titans
Mike Vanderjagt probably won’t miss another kick all year, but it’d be better if he was, say, 245 pounds so the Colts could put him on defense. Titans

Panthers vs. Chiefs
Can the Chiefs play “D” yet? Panthers

Vikings vs. Eagles
I really don’t think the NFL should count the touchdowns that Donovan McNabb throws to players that belong to other teams, but since they do, I’ll take the Eagles.
