VCU golf is in 15th place after the first day of the intercollegiate golf tournament at the Raleigh Country Club hosted by North Carolina State and North Carolina. The tournament features five ACC schools; Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia and Wake Forest.

VCU golf is in 15th place after the first day of the intercollegiate golf tournament at the Raleigh Country Club hosted by North Carolina State and North Carolina. The tournament features five ACC schools; Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia and Wake Forest. 2002 NCAA Champion Minnesota also will participate.

Ted Brown finished three-over for the first 36 holes, tying for 39th place after day one. Collectively, VCU finished with a first round total of 306. However, the team would turn around and finish the second round with a score of 291 to finish in 15th place for the day with a score of +29. At the end of day one, North Carolina was leading the tournament at -8. Tulsa was one behind. The individual leader is Chris Noel for the Golden Hurricanes, who leads with a -7 score for the first two rounds.
