In honor of Valentine’s Day, it is only appropriate that we take a look at one of the many romantic CDs out there. “Heart and Soul # 1: Movie Love Songs” features 10 of the most famous love songs from popular movies.
Included on this disc is the well-known “Unchained Melody” from the Righteous Brothers, which was featured in the hit movie “Ghost.” This disc provides a wide range of songs from the music spectrum, including two songs by Lionel Ritchie (“Say You, Say Me” and his duet with Diana Ross, “Endless Love”) to the hit song from “Footloose,” “Almost Paradise” performed by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson. Other songs featured on this disc include the hit song from the movie “Top Gun,” “Take My Breath Away,” sung by the 80s group Berlin, Roxette’s “It Must Have Been Love” from “Pretty Woman” and Chicago’s “Glory of Love” from the “Karate Kid 2.”
As enticing as this disc may sound, there is one thing you must keep in mind. Although the tracks on this CD may be recognizable, they are not performed by the groups that made them famous. Because of this, it is a bit odd to listen to, especially if you are familiar with the original versions of the songs. Another tip: don’t go looking to this CD for any recent music. Almost all the songs featured date back to the days of the spandex and hair metal.
