VCU men’s and women’s tennis teams went in the opposite directions in the win column last week, with the men dropping two straight and the women’s winning three in a row.
The women’s tennis team got their 10th win of the season by defeating Fordham University, a team who entered the matchup on a four-game winning streak. Played on Thursday, April 2, at the Thalhimer Tennis Center inside HDL Inc. Athletic Village, the victory was the first Atlantic 10 conference portion of their schedule. The women’s tennis team is 10-8 overall.
With a perfect home record intact, the VCU women’s tennis team came up short on the road against Wake Forest University, 5-2, where only two Rams managed to grab wins in singles competition on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The men’s and women’s tennis teams each hosted their own invitationals last week, showing early dominance against the competition.
One VCU tennis player will begin spring play as one of the top ranked players in the nation.
