With the development of controversy regarding the new cost for students who wish to use have a Greater Richmond Transit Company transit pass, it’s prudent that we
address the obvious: An expanding university requires certain expanded services.
If you’re new to Richmond, there’s one thing you need to know about the city: You will get a parking ticket at some point.
VCU this semester started charging students $50 or $100 for GRTC transit passes. Previously, these transit passes were free to students who enrolled full- and part-time at the university. After learning about this new fee via students on social media (not through the university itself), I decided to start a petition on Change.org. VCU has done a poor job communicating changes to the GRTC transit program to both new and returning students.
Meadows, a 22-year-old rising senior at VCU, heard about Studio Center’s Next Great Voice Talent competition from a friend and applied, figuring she had nothing to lose.
