A poetry reading remembrance ceremony for Pulitzer Prize winning poet and VCU professor, Claudia Emerson, was held Monday night at the Grace Street Theater. A large crowd of well over 100 people packed the auditorium to pay their respects to a woman described as a kind, caring women with a good sense of humor.
Claudia Emerson, a poet who spent her life writing, recipient of a Pulitzer Prize and a professor at VCU, died Thursday Morning at 57.
Natasha Trethewey, former poet laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winner, recited a selection of her poetry and answered questions about her work on Wednesday in the Commonwealth Ballroom.
Students met this week with Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter, Michael Moss, author of, “Salt Sugar Fat,” continuing a tradition of the University College’s summer reading program.
