The day will come when a nostalgia for the wild web exists, when the unfiltered nature of the internet during this day and age no longer exists. Whether the net will lose its neutrality or not is something that only time can tell. Even if it doesn’t come to that, we will still witness a restriction of what’s allowed on the web. That starts with the SAVE Act of 2014, something I touched on in last week’s column.

Jennifer Lawrence, privacy and the patriarchy

It’s been all over the news. Dozens of female celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, were targeted in a large-scale leak of nude photographs, released by way of image boards like 4chan and proliferated across the internet to porn sites and gossip blogs, like Perez Hilton (who has since removed the photos altogether).

Soccer players face felony counts

Three VCU men’s soccer players accused of capturing a nonconsenting minor in the nude on camera are facing jail time and heavy fines after a Grand Jury indicted them on felony charges earlier this month.
