Under head coach Dave Giffard, VCU’s men’s soccer team has risen through the national ranks over the last four years, going 41-22 overall, making Giffard only the second men’s soccer coach to have four consecutive winning seasons during their tenure.
The VCU men’s soccer season came to a disappointing close in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Rams fell 3-0 to the Naval Academy (16-3-2) at Sports Backers Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The VCU men’s soccer team suffered a devastating loss to George Mason University, falling 3-2 in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament on Friday, Nov. 15.
A 2-1 victory at St. Bonaventure University on Friday, Nov. 8 gave the VCU men’s soccer team its second consecutive victory and propelled head coach Dave Giffard’s team into sole possession of second place in the Atlantic 10 less than one week away from the conference tournament.
The VCU men’s soccer team topped defending national champion University of Indiana 1-0 on Oct. 18, stretching its win streak to four games and pushing its record to 7-4-1 on the season.
