Antonio Garcia is no stranger to the spotlight — in fact, just a few months ago he wrote, arranged and performed a piece with VCU Jazz alumni at Nelson Mandela’s U.S. memorial service in Washington, D.C. This month, Garcia will lead Jazz Orchestra I when they perform at the Singleton Center on Feb. 13.
VCU hosted a jazz concert that joined VCU’s Africa combo jazz group and the University of Kwazulu-Natal Asihambe Jazz Ensemble from South Africa in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
VCU students will partner with students from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, one of VCU’s sister universities, for a jazz performance at the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall of the W.E. Singleton Center for Performing Arts, fusing elements of American and South African jazz.
If you’re a fan of jazz, or just like watching fellow students perform, then the VCU Fall Jazz Festival is the event for you.
