VCU police reported an attempted abduction that occurred on VCU’s campus, at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. The incident took place at the 300 block of Hancock Street.
VCU promoted Police chief John A. Venuti to assistant vice president for public safety on top of his duties as chief this month. In his new role, Venuti will oversee the university police department as well as VCU Emergency Preparedness operations, and retain his sworn law enforcement status. The promotion was announced Nov. 21 and took effect immediately.
Chief operating officer and senior vice president David Hanson announced this week he is leaving VCU at the end of this year for an administrative position at the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H.
