Cabell library and the Academic Learning Commons were evacuated Wednesday after construction crews hit a gas line.
There was a single leak located on Linden Street between the two evacuated buildings. Students were warned by a VCU Alert at 12:01 p.m.
Both structures had their gas levels measured by City Public Utilities before students were allowed to return at 12:54 p.m.
Linden Street and a campus connector stop in front of Cabell library will remained closed for an undetermined amount of time, according to Corey Byers the VCU PD public information officer.
After the library was reopened, students complained of a strong odor.
