French Ambassador to the United States Pierre Vimont was in attendance for his second French Film Festival. Vimont spoke highly of the combined efforts of the University of Richmond and VCU in putting the festival together and getting out the younger crowd.
“Richmond has a very special place in the heart of the French film industry,” Vimont said. “I have noticed many more young people this year as well.”
American expatriates Patrick and Lynn Derby travelled from France to attend the festival.
“It’s a phenomenal production and we really enjoy the films, the presentations afterward, and meeting a host of people in the film business,” Patrick Derby said. “It’s really interesting-a little bit of history.”
