After “Fallen” came out, Evanescence fans have been waiting for a new album from the popular gothic band for more than three years. When “The Open Door” was released a few weeks ago, listeners were itching to get a hold of it.

After quite a few listens, some still aren’t sure what to think of it.

“The Open Door” definitely lacks the power that made “Fallen” so inspiring. Some pieces, such as “Call Me When You’re Sober,” try to bring an almost R&B sound to the rock group and fails to leave any lasting impressions. The raw emotion of Amy Lee’s vocals is lacking at best and boring at worst.
