Do you ever feel like you’re beating your head against a door searching for money for tuition bills? You may be looking in all the wrong places. That door may be just what you’re looking for.
JELD-EN, the world’s leading manufacturer of windows and doors, is offering two $5,000 scholarships to architecture and design students who can create an interesting design concept of a residential front door.
“Doors are a great design challenge because they must combine both stand-out style and functionality,” Jim Hackett, vice president of marketing for JELD-EN, said in a press release.
A representative and a panel of independent judges will look at the door designs and decide which two students will receive the grand prize: a $5,000 scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to the next International Builders’ Show. Three finalists will receive $1,000 scholarships.
“We were so impressed with the originality and quality of designs from last year’s group of entrants,” Hackett said. “We can’t wait to see what students will come up with this year.”
You can enter and review the rules at www.jeld-wen.com/studentdesign. All entries must be submitted by Nov. 1, 2006.
