After Towson scored 24 seconds into the game, Pat Viray (Reston, Va./South Lakes High School) tied the game nearly 12 minutes later, before VCU fell to the Tigers 2-1 Sunday, at Sports Backers Stadium.

The Rams played George Mason to a scoreless tie Friday night.

The Tigers responded in the 70th minute and the lead stood for the Tigers, who won for the first time in Richmond and broke a five-game losing streak to the Rams. The first goal was the first time the Tigers scored against the Rams since 1990.

Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra recorded a season-high nine saves against the Patriots, but the Rams were unable to get the ball in the net. It was the sixth straight game the Rams held the Patriots without a goal.

The Rams travel to UNC Wilmington Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m.
