Former Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder is someone from the history books: the first and only black governor in the United States – and a professor here at VCU.

Born and raised in Church Hill, the Governor is coming out of semi-retirement to run for a position that will give him no more political prestige than he already has – Richmond mayor.

This is it – the last day before the election, and tomorrow America goes to the polls to decide who will be president. They do so with a cloud hanging over the Bush administration’s credibility on Iraq: the failure to secure nearly 400 tons of high-explosive material during the invasion in March of 2003.

This election year is supposedly going to bring in a lot of voters. I have heard from some news panels and from the general public that many of these votes will be coming from the younger voters. I can imagine this Election Day will be an important one, given the war over in Iraq and the more intense sense of national pride distilled in Americans since Sept.

Tomorrow Americans have an important choice to make between two very different visions for the future of our country.

Don’t be fooled: this election isn’t about Democrats or Republicans. Both sides have received at least some endorsements from the opposite party, and newspapers that in the past endorsed the candidate of one party have this year switched sides.

Understanding appropriations, how groups got money

Every semester, students pay student-activity fees, and every semester students wonder who spends their money and for what. Some of it goes to groups such as the Student Media Commission, while the SGA Appropriations Committee allocates one-third of the $45 student-activity-fee funds to student organizations.
