Nurses angered by foreign recruiting
CHARLOTTESVILLE – Nurses at the University of Virginia Medical Center are angry about the university’s ongoing recruitment of nurses from foreign countries.
The hospital has already hired 12 nurses from as far away as Australia and South Africa, and it plans to hire more.
Jordanian college student ordered deported without hearing
PITTSBURGH – An immigration judge has ordered the deportation of a Jordanian attending La Roche College for failing to register with a federal program that tracks visitors from primarily Muslim countries.
Abdelqader Abu-Snaineh, 22, said he will catch a flight from New York City and leave the country on Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Sunday.

The injury-riddled Rams host a Hofstra team that went winless in its first two CAA games. Last season, the two teams played 105 minutes before defender Gonzalo Segares scored the game-winner. The rams will host Drexel on Sunday.
P-Cubed CR crushed The Hard Ones by 40 in IM co-rec
The fall intramural season rolls along with many blowouts and forfeits.
In last Monday’s co-rec flag football action, M 2007 beat M3 17-6, M 2005 CR topped The Cadavers 27-18 and P-Cubed CR shut out The Hard Ones 40-0.
In men’s B division action, Mactar barely got by The Takeover 37-34 and the Headbussas downed the Freeagents 30-22.
Six straight wins, six straight shutouts
The VCU women’s soccer team controlled every aspect of Friday night’s 4-0 win over Longwood College. It was the Rams sixth straight win in which they haven’t allowed a goal.
Striker Solfrid Andersen scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 14th minute of the game.
Battered Rams beat Patriots 1-0; split weekend games
After having its six-game unbeaten streak snapped by James Madison on Friday, VCU salvaged the weekend by shutting out George Mason 1-0 yesterday in front of 285 on the road.
The Rams’ only goal of the game was the first goal of the season for sophomore defender Hugh Macdonald.

‘X-Men Legends’ action packed for multiple players
X-Men Legends was released on Tuesday, Sept. 21 for all major game consoles. Legends is an action-oriented RPG in the vein of Baldur’s Gate and the old-school Gauntlet games. It received a T (Teen) ESRB rating for blood and violence. The MSRP is $49.99.
Vietnamese Student Association
VCU has a multitude of cultural and ethnic organizations all based around the central idea of introducing VCU students to various cultures. The Vietnamese Student Association is one such group. Junior Phuong Nguyen is at the helm of VSA, which boasts more than 100 members.
Who is Filippo Mazzei?
The Filippo Mazzei Italian-American Cultural Society has big plans this year. Alexander Marra, who founded it in his first year at VCU, said he wants to host an Italian film festival comparable to VCU’s French Film Festival. Marra, a 21-year-old history major, is president of the organization.
